Our music director, Tom Star, is actually Irish-American. Until now he had never really made himself familiar especially with traditional Irish music and culture.
This was the year he decided to change all that and share the culture of his grandparents with his friends and BANGWAVE listeners!
Tom spent the week researching Irish traditional and contemporary music to prepare for his St Patrick’s Day Party. This will be the first time he ever gave a party for this occasion.
After a week of listening and soaking it all in, Tom has distilled it down to one hour for all the listeners to enjoy in podcast format.
You’ll also hear a few examples of American consumerist Irish kitch such as the Lucky Charm’s commercials of the 1970s and 80s.
We’ll also look into the origins of St Patrick’s Day and the phrase “No Irish Need Apply”. We think everyone will enjoy this informative, cultural and entertaining program!
