The Beatles in Minnesota 1965

The Beatles, c 1965

It was 50 years ago this week that the Beatles played their one and own show ever in the state of Minnesota.

Our independent radio consortium, Ampers, tracked down someone who was there.

In 1965 the Beatles had just release their decidedly goofy promo move, “Help!”. They were well into the peak of their success and there were no hints of the halting disillusionment the fab four would experience only three short years later.

The show was no promoted very well in part due to fears of mob chaos by local authorities. It was the only show in their tour that year that did not sell out.
